In 2011, Bastrop County had its worst wildfire in history, rapidly burning over 34,000 acres and 96 percent of Bastrop State Park's forest. Texas A&M Forest Service, Texas Parks and Wildlife, local officials, community members, businesses and Texas A&M University students worked together in shared stewardship to replant trees.
