Our initial Alberta Indigenous Games (AIG) were started by our late founder Allan Ross. After starting the Edmonton Native Basketball Association (ENBA) in 2006 which held an Indigenous basketball league in Edmonton, Allan had the vision and saw the need for an Olympic Style Indigenous Games in Alberta.

Elder Fred Campion became a board member for the Alberta Indigenous Games in 2024 and has been instrumental in supporting the spiritual component of planning and implementing the games since 2016.

Jun 27, 2023 · 4,500+ Indigenous youth (6,000+ youth, coaches, chaperones and officials) from across Alberta are invited to engage in a week of competitive sports, traditional games, special events, education, and cultural connection!
