Mexico's president sarcastically said that the U.S. should be called "Mexican America" after Trump's vow to rename the Gulf of Mexico the "Gulf of America."

As is often the case with Trump, it’s unclear whether his remarks are to be taken at face value or if he's simply trying to stir the pot.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum responded to President-elect Donald Trump‘s assertion that the Gulf of Mexico should be renamed the “Gulf of America.” She jokingly said the continent of North America should be renamed “Mexican America” because an old Mexican constitution labeled North America by that moniker.
