A high wind warning was issued by the NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA on Wednesday at 12:54 a.m. valid from 10 p.m. until Thursday 2 p.m. The warning is for Southern Ventura County Mountains, Interstate 5 Corridor and Eastern San Gabriel Mountains.

The highest gusts, up to 70 mph, are forecast for the northern San Fernando Valley and eastern Ventura County.

A rare Particularly Dangerous Situation warning has been issued for Southern California as a powerful and potentially damaging Santa Ana wind event​ is expected.

"A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly," the NWS said.

As wildfires continued to burn in Los Angeles, three fires broke out in San Diego County, prompting evacuation orders and warnings.

Rain coming to Southern California could help with the firefight, but forecasters say it probably will not end what has been a devastating fire season.
