EAST MEADOW, NY -- New York Islanders defenseman Alexander Romanov has missed 13 games this season across three different stretches due to upper-body injuries. The Islanders have gone 4-7-2 without No. 28 in the lineup and will need him to stay healthy with his defense partner, Noah Dobson, out week-to-week with a lower-body injury:

Dobson, 25, sustained an injury to his right leg 1:16 into the third period of Monday night’s 3-1 win over the Blue Jackets at UBS Arena when it bent awkwardly following a check by Columbus’ Cole Sillinger. He left the ice and did not return.

Alexander Romanov could probably give Noah Dobson some good advice right about now. This season has been played on two tracks for Romanov: one in which he’s further established himself as a top-pair defenseman for the Islanders and a pivotal piece of their future,

Romanov leads the Islanders with 75 hits, 6.43 hits per 60, while also leading in blocks per 60, with 6.26, while averaging the third-most minutes at 21:51 per game. With Noah Dobson now out due to injury and with no timetable for his return, Romanov will be heavily relied upon to carry out some of the workload.
