Srinagar recorded about eight inches of snow while neighbouring Ganderbal recorded about seven inches. Sonamarg, a famous tourist destination, recorded around eight inches of snow. As many as 80 flights were cancelled.

Authorities have closed the Jammu-Srinagar highway following fresh snowfall, leaving about 300 vehicles, both small and large, stranded along the route.

More than 2000 vehicles were stranded on Jammu-Srinagar highway due to heavy snowfall on Friday. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who drove from Jammu to Srinagar, said around 2000 vehicles are stuck between the tunnel and Qazigund on the highway.
