Disney, Fox, and Warner Bros Discovery have ended their efforts to start a combined sports streaming service called Venu, the company said on Friday.

Venu Sports, the proposed virtual MVPD service from ESPN, FOX and Warner Bros. Discovery, will be discontinued, the three companies said in what they called a collective decision not to move forward with the contemplated joint venture.

The sports-focused streaming service co-founded by The Walt Disney Co, Warner Bros. Discovery and Fox Corp. will not move forward, the companies said Friday.

Disney’s ESPN, Fox Corp. and Warner Bros. Discovery have thrown in the towel on their joint sports streaming service, Venu Sports, a venture that was first announced last February. The three would-be collaborators acknowledged the decision to walk away from Venu in a statement released this morning.

The Venu Sports streaming service is over before it even began. The major companies behind the platform have pulled the plug.

The companies say they will instead focus 'on existing products and distribution channels.' The move comes after the service, known as Venu, faced several legal challenges from rival providers.
