Northern parts of the Texas Panhandle are expected to see the most extreme weather change over the coming days. Fresh off a record-obliterating, 89-degree day in Amarillo, Texas on Monday, the city and the region north of it will experience sub-freezing lows as a "potent" cold front dips down from the Central Plains overnight Friday into Saturday.

Following a foggy Wednesday morning, visibility continued to improve as a warm front lifted north. Visibility was down to a quarter mile at times during the Wednesday morning commute while temperatures hovered in the 40s ahead of the warm front.

Thursday will be another tricky day with the temperature forecast. A front will work its way through part of North Texas before stalling out, and it will be the difference maker between temperatures in the upper 60s versus temperatures near 80°.

Dallas-Fort Worth was under a dense fog advisory Wednesday morning. A warm front was expected to bring spring-like temperatures to the area again by Thursday.

A cold front sagged south and stalled over parts of North Texas Tuesday, which dropped temperatures back below average for the metroplex while our southeastern counties hung onto the spring-like temperatures.
