A major rainstorm sweeping through the Los Angeles area is threatening Southern California's recovery from this month's devastating wildfires, creating dangerous conditions that could include debris flows and mudslides.

There is a 10% to 20% chance of flash flooding and landslides in some recently burned areas of Los Angeles County, forecasters say, including the Palisades and Eaton fire areas.

Much-needed rain arrived in Southern California on Sunday, and while it’s been helping with the ongoing wildfire efforts it’s also leading to some flash flooding as well as mud and debris flows in recent burn scar areas around Los Angeles.
