Caltrans District 4 reported the crash around 10 a.m., warning drivers to expect major delays and use alternate routes. There was no estimate for when the highway would reopen.
A temporary flight restriction (TFR) was reduced to a six-mile radius around the northwest corner of the fire, and Highway 12 is still open. No forest closures are in effect at this time.
The crash occurred around 8:45 p.m. when a black Nissan 350Z was heading westbound on State Highway 12, just west of Kirkland Ranch Road, according to the CHP's area office in Napa.
