Matthews Elementary would remain open while its new facility is under construction. Once the new building opens, construction will begin on the new park. That would be complete in 2030.

Under the agreement, Matthews would develop and own the 18,000- to 24,000-square-foot museum space for Discovery Place. The nonprofit would then upfit and occupy the space.
