A 32-year-old St. Paul man is accused of fleeing law enforcement and crashing a vehicle into a tree, killing his girlfriend of five years, who was in the passenger seat.

A man died in a crash after police say he lost control of his car and struck a tree in Hyde Park on Saturday.

Dylan John Smith, 32, of St. Paul, was charged Monday in Ramsey County District Court with criminal vehicular homicide in connection with the 28-year-old woman’s death. He also faces fleeing police in a motor vehicle and auto theft.
