The latest iOS 18.3 update enables the satellite texting feature offered by T-Mobile through Starlink for select iPhone users.
At the moment, only texting is supported, and media attachments are no longer blocked, although only medium-resolution images and audio are supported for now. A future upgrade will also add video support. Later in 2025 and beyond, voice and data will also be activated.
T-Mobile partnered with SpaceX last year and launched a beta program for Starlink connectivity last December. However, the company originally only offered the option on Samsung phones. Now, this has been expanded to the iPhone as well.
Apple is said to be in secret talks with SpaceX and T-Mobile to add Starlink support, boosting satellite connectivity for iPhone users.
