Minneapolis City Council approves landmark police reform deal with DOJ five years after George Floyd's death aiming for systemic change.
The Minneapolis Police Federation is seeking a voice in the latest plan for court-ordered reforms of the police department. The union on Friday filed a motion to intervene in the proposed federal consent decree.
The federal consent decree formalizes many policies that the police department put in place when the world’s attention was on Minneapolis after George Floyd’s murder in 2020 that are also in the settlement with the Minnesota Department of Human Rights.
