Even without unveiling its next-generation Bravia TV lineup, Sony still has a pretty packed CES 2025. Case in point is Xyn, a new sub-brand within Sony focused on capturing, creating, and playing within spatial worlds, and I got to go hands-on with the Xyn Headset Prototype as well as a new solution for capturing in 3D.

Sony is launching the Xyn (pronounced zin ), an “extended reality” headset for creating 3D objects for films, animation, and games. The device, which Sony first teased at CES last year, will come with 4K OLED displays, video passthrough, and support for third-party design, modeling, and production software.

Thaisa Yamamura, head of XR Business Development at Sony Electronics in the US, introduced XYN - a new 3D CG production solution for various creators. XYN’s spatial capture employs a mirrorless camera, converting real objects and spaces into high-quality 3D objects. Sony’s algorithm is specifically optimized to improve generation time.
