The Tulane Green Wave continue to dominate in the transfer portal as a competitive Group of 5 program, as illustrated by their latest addition on the defensive

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane quarterback Ty Thompson withdrew his name from the transfer portal on Tuesday. Thompson has one year of eligibility remaining. He originally entered the portal December 11th, and still started for the Green Wave in the team’s 33-8 loss to Florida in the Gasparilla Bowl.

Tulane has lost another big-name backfield starter as running back Makhi Hughes has decided to entere the transfer portal, Max Olson of ESPN reports.

The Tulane Green Wave keep adding talent to their roster from the transfer portal to account for departures, and their tight end room was notably strengthened.

According to On3, Hughes ranked as the No. 1 running back in the transfer portal and as the No. 10 player overall. Hughes also ranked No. 7 in the transfer portal in terms of NIL Valuations, as On3 estimated his value to be $650,000, which is the highest mark for a running back.

Tulane coach Jon Sumrall said he wanted two quarterbacks with plenty of starting experience and a third with college playing experience out of the transfer portal, and that is exactly what he has gotten with the addition of a former Ball State starter on Sunday.
