Valve is making a notable shift with its portable gaming strategy as Lenovo debuted a new edition of its Legion Go gaming handheld that runs Valve’s custom operating system.

The Legion Go S is a streamlined PC gaming handheld and the first with SteamOS since Steam Deck; the Go 2 is a full sequel. The Legion Pro 7i gaming laptop also gets a silicon boost.

Lenovo's Legion Go PC gaming handheld has been a noticeable part of the growth of the entire sector since the Steam Deck first ignited things a few years ago. It was (and remains) a bit of a beast, with a set of impressive specs and some interesting detachable controllers that pack in some tricks.

Lenovo is already announcing one new handheld (or two depending on how you’re counting) at CES 2025. However, that isn’t stopping the company from looking ahead to its next portable gaming device by teasing an early prototype of the Legion Go 2.

We may put handhelds like the Asus ROG Ally and Steam Deck up against each other, but the real power of Valve’s handheld is that it’s affordable. For as good as devices like the original Lenovo Legion Go are,
