India's finance ministry is inviting applications from qualified candidates to head the country's markets regulator, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), it announced in a newspaper advertisement on Monday.

India's finance ministry is seeking applications for the new chief of SEBI as Madhabi Puri Buch's term ends on Feb. 28. Buch faced resignation pressure last year due to alleged conflict of interest but denied these claims.

Per the advertisement, the Financial Sector Regulatory Appointments Search Committee (FSRASC) will do the screening of applications. The FSRASC, meanwhile, also has the authority to select and appoint any eligible person who has not applied for the post.
