The No. 5 lot was a ring by Harry Winston featuring a 23.65-carat pear-shaped diamond of D color and VVS2 clarity flanked by tapered baguette diamonds. It fetched nearly $1.4 million.
The pear-shaped diamond weighs over 300 carats. Sotheby’s The stone was presented to the public in 1984 at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History.
