The Massachusetts college students accused of hatching a plot to frame a man and label him a predator — which resulted in his assault — say the criminal charges against them should be dropped.

Investigators say the assault was part of a “To Catch a Predator” style trend popular on social media. One student is still charged with witness intimidation and another with assault and battery.
