Spirit Airlines on Thursday appointed Dave Davis as its new chief executive officer, weeks after the U.S. discount carrier emerged from bankruptcy and reconstituted its board.

The appointment, effective April 21, comes just more than a week after former CEO Ted Christie stepped down as part of a shakeup.

While the low-cost airline initially insisted that former CEO Ted Christie would continue to lead after it filed for bankruptcy and later emerged from it with a deal to go private, the longtime Spirit Airlines (SAVE) executive was officially given the boot on April 7.
