In a press release, SEGA announced that the Sonic the Hedgehog film series has now hit the $1 billion milestone in global revenue. The announcement was made by SEGA President and COO, Representative Director Shuji Utsumi, that the Sonic the Hedgehog film series has now grossed over $1 billion ( (¥157B) in the global box office.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 continued to deliver for the franchise, bringing in $336.3 million globally on its own.
