The first Lamborghini race car designed and built entirely at headquarters is ready to pick up where the Huracán GT3 left off.

It has been ten years since Lamborghini introduced the Huracan GT3, an important race car that brought the historically racing-averse brand into some of the world's most competitive racing series.

Thanks to performance balancing, older GT3 cars like the Huracan are still competitive. But with the road car out of production, it was obvious that a racing version of its replacement was called for.

Following the GT3 rulebook, the Temerario sources its power from the same twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 as the production model, though the racing version gets new, smaller turbochargers.

That does not mean erasing the strengths of the Huracan GT3. CTO Rouven Mohr tells Road & Track that these are "related to cornering, braking, and rotating [through the corner].
