W. Phillip Keller, in his book, "A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23," tells the story of one particularly stubborn sheep he had in his time as a Middle Eastern shepherd.
He Promises His provision: “He makes me to lie down in green pastures: He leads me beside the still waters” (vs. 2).
As the Psalmist put it poetically: "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures" (23:1, 2).
The Good Shepherd also blesses His sheep. This great Shepherd of the sheep will equip you with everything good for doing His will (Hebrews 13:20-21). To get the good you first must know the Shepherd.
Spanish shepherds led 2,000 sheep through the streets of Madrid in defense of age-old droving, grazing and migration rights that are increasingly threatened by urban sprawl and fenced-in pastures.
In spite of the floodwaters, the sheep appeared to have found greener pastures. Although, the sheep were unable to pull the wool over their Shepard’s eyes.
In 1910, a different kind of English pastoral appeared in the form of W.H. Hudson’s “A Shepherd’s Life,” a candid account of the experiences of a 19th-century Wiltshire shepherd.
The streets of Madrid were filled with sheep and the clanking of bells on Sunday as shepherds guided their flocks through the heart of the Spanish capital, following ancient seasonal herding routes.
