A room inside the St. George Utah Temple. Before its rededication, the temple will be open to the public for an open house period from Sept. 15 to Nov. 11.

The St. George Utah Temple was the first temple to be completed in Utah. There were only two other temples that had been built, one in Kirkland, Ohio, and another in Nauvoo, Illinois.

They would not complete another temple until St. George was finished in 1877. "For a student of Latter-day Saint history, it's a wonderful, wonderful building," he said.

The St. George Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints opened Wednesday for media tours after four years of renovations. The public open house begins Sept. 15.
