An attempt to use a robot to remove a sample of melted fuel from Japan's tsunami-stricken Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant was suspended due to a technical issue.

However, the sample's radioactivity was found to be far below this threshold. TEPCO assured the public that the sample is melted fuel, despite the lower-than-expected radiation levels.
