The only Predator movie to not take place on Earth, Predators, from Robert Rodriguez, looked to shake up the formula a bit by bringing audiences to a distant planet, a Yautja game reserve.

Predator: Badlands stalked its prey at CinemaCon, where 20th Century brought the first look at the latest installment in the sci-fi franchise. Elle Fanning took the stage to tease the new film.

The movie starts with ancient Vikings, moves to feudal Japan, and eventually, depicts Predators attacking WWII fighter planes. There is a method to this madness, though.

Either way, some of the biggest world-building questions are still hanging over this story. So far, most Predator movies have been set in roughly contemporary times, from the 1980s through the 2020s.

First seen in 2007’s Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem, the bladed whip is wielded by the movie’s lone Yautja hunter, Wolf, and is designed for anything but Indiana Jones-style adventures.
