The video conferencing app officially shut down on Monday, marking the end of its long run. In a post on Microsoft’s blog back in February, the company said Skype will be retired in and will focus on Microsoft Teams. Skype users will be able to move to Microsoft Teams for free by logging in to Teams with their Skype account.

Microsoft has confirmed it will permanently shut down Skype in May 2025, ending a two-decade run of the once-dominant video calling platform and steering users toward its Teams service.
