GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — A crash on Interstate 40 East in Greensboro has shut down multiple lanes of the highway on Thursday morning, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
I-40 is closed in Cocke County, Tennessee. To bypass I-40, drivers should take I-81 and I-26. A rockslide and flooding happened on I-40 in East Tennessee near the North Carolina state line.
While I-40 spans 2,554.22 miles from California to North Carolina, it is not the longest interstate in the country. I-40 is the country's third-longest interstate, according to WorldAtlas.
An overturned semi shut down the Interstate 40 westbound lanes at the Interstate 24 westbound split while closing one eastbound lane to traffic, the Tennessee Department of Transportation said.
