A few of us at Hemmings, who came of age in the 1980s, nearly choked on our Bubble Yum, when a red Camaro IROC-Z convertible sold at Barrett-Jackson, Scottsdale two years ago for a whopping $102,300.
The IROC-Zs had the 305-cube / 5.0-liter V8 as standard (the Electronic Fuel Injection version), with a TPI 305 as an option on both the coupe and the convertible.
Funny enough, while all prices are skyrocketing, this 1988 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z Convertible is pretty darn cheap for its collectability level – the dealership's asking price is just $24,500!
An IROC-Z Camaro, with 220-horse V8 cost just $13,490 that year, while the IROC-Z convertible cost $18,015.
The latter can be seen here in this Bring a Trailer ad in IROC-Z convertible spec, with 49,000 miles (79,000 km) on its odo.
Like a finely mixed margarita, Ryan Martin's 1989 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z is a perfect blend of both the sport car world and the lowriding world.
