The Hawaii News Now Weather Team has declared a statewide First Alert Weather Day for Wednesday night through Friday morning due to an approaching winter storm.The National Weather Service said an unusually strong low-pressure system will pass north of the state on Wednesday night,

A powerful storm that will bring heavy rain, gusty winds and flash flooding is set to hit the Hawaiian Islands Wednesday evening.

Potentially damaging southwest wind, a risk for severe thunderstorms, flash flooding and heavy snow on the peaks of the Big Island’s volcanoes are all in the forecast.

Flood Watches are in effect for all the Hawaiian islands as a storm swings by bringing heavy rain, possible strong thunderstorms and damaging wind gusts.

As a cold front will cover the islands, stormy weather that are anticipated include windy conditions and plenty of showers in areas across the state.
