Spring Lake High School principal Mike Gilchrist submitted his resignation in January following an investigation after a teacher brought copies of mysteriously changed records to the superintendent.

Spring Lake — Mike Gilchrist was a popular figure in the halls of Spring Lake High School. The longtime principal knew everyone’s name, dispensing inspirational quotes with a smile, said students.

Gilchrist had been the principal at Spring Lake High School for more than 20 years. In late January, he was placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
