Cream of Wheat, a farina favorite, debuted in 1893. The logo for Cream of Wheat has long been thought to be based on Frank L. White, a Chicago chef who died in 1938.

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Kraft Foods Inc. kft said Tuesday it's selling its hot cereals business, including the Cream of Wheat and Cream of Rice brands, to B&G Foods Inc. BGF, for about $200 million.

Cream of Wheat's packaging includes an image of a black chef. In early advertisements, copy refers to the chef as " Rastus " — a term now considered a slur.
