At a remand hearing at Harristown District Court in Castlerea, Geraghty told Judge Geoffrey Browne that his client had indicated ‘a certain course of action’ to the four charges before the court.

The man was charged with two counts of rape against each of the young girls. He was arrested on Monday night in Athlone Garda (police) Station and said nothing when the charges were read out to him.

He also has more than 70 previous convictions including criminal damage, assault, robbery and possession of knives. He had only been released from Castlerea Prison three days before the offences.
