Q: I became a permanent resident of Canada nine years ago. I have a permanent resident card valid until June 15. I plan to visit my old parents in China in May and will come back to Toronto on May 30.

Once you get the PR card, it proves that you have PR status in Canada. If you travel outside Canada and return, you must show your PR card and your passport to the officials.
