Two Washington, D.C.-area statues commemorating the Confederacy will be restored and replaced, in line with President Donald Trump's pushback on recent efforts to reframe America's historical narrative.

The 27-foot-tall bronze and marble statue of Confederate Gen. Albert Pike was placed in secure storage after its removal and is undergoing restoration, according to the National Park Service.

Albert Pike's 27-foot-tall bronze and marble statue was erected more than a century ago, paying homage to his history as a brigadier general in the Confederate army and prominent figure in Scottish Rite Freemasonry.
