A new announcement indicates that January 23 will be a huge day for gamers who are eager to play Assassin's Creed Shadows.

The Japanese version of the upcoming game Assassin's Creed Shadows will be censored, as announced by Ubisoft, in order to comply with the regulations of the rating agency. Assassin's Creed Shadows is scheduled for release on March 20.

The Japanese release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be censored, Ubisoft has announced. A statement made on the publisher’s Japanese X account confirmed that the Japanese version of the game will have some graphic content removed, despite it having a ‘Z’ rating from Japanese ratings organisation CERO.

Ubisoft has revealed that the Japanese version of Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be censored. Despite being given a Z rating by Japan’s CERO ratings body, which means it cannot be sold to anyone under the age of 18, some of the game’s graphic content is still being removed as it was deemed to extreme for a Z certification.

Japan's rating board, CERO, confirmed that whilst players in Europe and North America will be able to toggle amputation on/off, for Japanese players "the option to switch amputation on/off from the game settings has been removed" and "amputating the neck and limbs of enemies during gameplay is now always impossible."
