Many students across Middle Tennessee will have another snow day as dangerously cold temperatures continue to cause slick roadways. The National Weather Service has issued a Cold Weather Advisory for Middle Tennessee.

School districts across East Tennessee remained closed after a snowstorm swept through East Tennessee on Wednesday, Feb. 19.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Some East Tennessee and Kentucky schools will be closed Friday due to potentially hazardous road conditions. Snow and frigid temperatures have kept several schools closed since Wednesday. Moisture refreezing and light snow could create hazardous travel issues Thursday night through Friday morning.

Ahead of a potentially heavy snow event on Tuesday night, these Middle Tennessee schools have announced closures.

While the snow stopped falling, freezing weather remains. Here's which East Tennessee schools will be closed or on remote learning Friday, Feb. 21.

Bitterly cold temperatures are expected and wind chills could drop to or below zero in the areas included in the Cold Weather Advisory early Thursday morning.

While the snow is melting, some of the more rural Tennessee and southern Kentucky counties are still not thawed out from the snowfall this week.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A few schools are closed Monday due to illness. This comes as Tennessee recently ranked #4 in the U.S. for flu activity, according to data from Walgreens. Adding to these concerns, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has also flagged Tennessee as one of the states experiencing high flu activity.
