A child in Suffolk County has tested positive for measles, health officials say. The child is under the age of 5 and is unvaccinated, according to the Suffolk County Department of Health Services. Officials say the child did not attend day care or school while infectious.

A dead raccoon has testified positive for rabies in Suffolk County. This is the second rabid raccoon reported in the county so far this year.

Before this year, no raccoon had a case of rabies in Suffolk County since 2009. NewsdayTV's Shari Einhorn reports.
