Shawn Snook matched all five white balls to win $1 million and his prize quadrupled when the 4X Megaplier hit.

Shawn Snook of Statesville got to celebrate his birthday a day early after a lucky Mega Millions ticket won him a $4 million prize, the N.C. Education Lottery announced on Tuesday.

Someone won $50,000 playing Mega Millions after matching four numbers and the Mega Ball in the Jan. 28 drawing, just missing the estimated $44 million jackpot, the Georgia Lottery said. The winning ticket was sold at a Kroger fuel station in Tucker, according to lottery officials.
