President-elect Donald Trump raised the flags at his Mar-a-Lago residence to full-staff in open defiance of the protocol to keep flags at half-staff following the death of a former president. Jimmy Carter died at the age of 100 two weeks ago.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has ordered that the flags lowered to half-staff for the late President Jimmy Carter be raised for Donald Trump's inauguration.

Flags have been flying at half staff to mourn Jimmy Carter for 30 days. One state has ordered that flags be raised to full staff for inauguration day.

DeSantis called for the special session to begin Jan. 27; the 2025 regular legislative session starts in Tallahassee on March 4.

Gov. Ron DeSantis is calling lawmakers back to Tallahassee later this month for a special session to help boost President-elect Donald Trump’s immigration agenda. DeSantis, during a news conference at the state Capitol on Monday, said Florida needed to help Trump’s expected “ambitious policy changes” on immigration enforcement.
