By Richard Cowan WASHINGTON (Reuters) -Democrat Hakeem Jeffries could be poised to wield more power than a minority leader typically enjoys in the U.S. House of Representatives, with President-elect Donald Trump's fractious Republicans holding a thin majority.

The Ranking Member of the House Oversight Committee claimed Friday that it's "numerically possible" for Democrats to thwart Republicans and vote in House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) as the new House Speaker.
