I have never seen a person swim here since visiting here since 2001. It is a special small spot. You might be able to dip your feet in the water but many people may be staring at you instead of the sunset. Most people just arrive there before the sun sets. Peninsula Players has a spot to view the sunset, too. Right before the show begins.
