We were staying not far from Playa Grande and it took us 20 minutes to walk to the Old Town/Harbour of Puerta del Carmen along the Avenida de las Playas. This harbour although it has a good fish restaurants and other restaurants and cafes is not that picturesque, you need to walk further along the harbour to get to a flight of steps and take a pleasant 40 minutes walk to the beautiful Puerto Calero. Have a drink or two there and then return by water bus to the old harbour.
