I take a holistic approach to treating patients and take my time with every patient. I try to see if there is a way forward that will get a patient to transplant. As patients get older or develop more medical conditions, the decision to transplant a patient becomes complex. However, I promise to give every patient consideration. When I was growing up in Montana, I realized I wanted to be a General Practitioner. A General Practitioner is a doctor that treats colds, performs physicals, delivers babies, or removes an appendix. They get to know their patients because they see them year in and year out. When I got to medical school, I made some decisions which shifted me away from that goal. I find it interesting that I ended up in a specialty where I take care of patients year in and year out. The continuous care of the patients is part of what makes transplant so rewarding to me.
