The building is huge, but the collection is not so big. There is an enormous hall in the middle of the museum, and it has no art works. You can find Asian, African. Muslim, Egyptian, Assyrian, and. …Full review by 649001

This has got to be one of the best things to do in Brooklyn for anyone, regardless of single traveller or family group. The exhibits are incredible and it’s clear the layout has been planned to make…Full review by Neverunderdressed

I travelled by convenient subway to view the American and Asian collections. The American art has been rearranged by social-political-cultural theme. The resultant mixture of objects outside of his…Full review by travelculture123
Is it allowed to check luggage at the Brooklyn Museum? We are planning on visiting theee on our last day in NYC, right before heading to LaGuardia Airport. Being able to leave our bags at the coat check (we will each have 1 suitcase with us) would make everything go smoothly.

Apologies. Just saw your question. This response may be moot at this point. I don't know the answer. Digging through the museum's website I saw nothing on left luggage. I did searches with a number of terms. It doesn't mean they don't have it. Since 9/11 I believe that many organizations have stopped offering that.
On Saturday July 7, i understand the Bowie exhibit advance tickets are sold out. What time do we need to get there to get walk-up tickets? Will those tickets be for entrance later in the day? Thanks

I went on Sunday, July 9th. We arrived at 10:30 and stood on a very long line until the museum opened at 11am. Even then, the time we got for the Bowie exhibit was 1:30. We had drinks at the Norm restaurant in the museum. We toured floors 1, 3, and 4. Then headed to the 5th floor. While most of the museum was refrigerator cold, there was no air conditioning at the Bowie exhibit. Again, we were faced with long lines in spite of the timed entry ticket. We ended up being admitted to the Bowie exhibit more than an hour after our 1:30 time slot. What is very cool is the sound system in the headsets they give you. What is not cool is how many people they permit in, and how dark it was. Someone stepped on my toe. Ouch! We couldn’t get close enough to see some of the exhibits. I would have felt safer if they had better crowd control.

I’m buying the “standard” ticket for the Bowie exhibit. How flexible is the museum with your scheduled time. If I buy a ticket for 3:00, do I have to get there exactly at 3:00? Thanks
